PERSONAL

OASYS (Office Automation Systems) Ltd. has been incorporated for nearly 15 years. As Director and consultant I have deliberately tried to be flexible in my approach to my clients and this has subsequently enabled me to diversify in both my contract work and any privately undertaken job. With nearly 20 years IT experience, I have a broad base of skills including PC and Network support (NT and Novell), Notes Administration, 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support and training, with team leader, supervisory and managerial options. I have had long contracts with major blue chip City institutions such as Barings, Lloyds of London, Mercantile and General and Swiss Re. I also have several local, City and West End based customers for whom I do private work.

The contract roles undertaken by my company involve supporting existing systems, rollout and project work, training, Y2K, team leading and managerial roles with use of Microsoft Office, Lotus SmartSuite, Lotus Notes, Novell, NT and other in-house banking and financial packages.

I view my company as a viable small business and I have attempted to promote my business locally. I believe the accounting and tax procedures involved in the running of a company are as much a part of my work experience as day-to-day consultancy.

I dislike the idea of Computer systems that do not cater for the needs of the users and I believe my approach to this is by having patience and understanding of the people concerned and their requirements. I particularly enjoy the personal aspect of my job and have found it to be an important factor in the longevity of my contracts.

I am also a Freelance Writer and I write for the internet site ‘West Ham Online’ (www.westhamonline.net) – an unofficial West Ham Internet site to which I contribute a weekly column. I also contribute a further weekly column to www.soccernet.com and was the official correspondent for England in the 2002 World Cup and 2004 European Championship. My first book ‘Nightmare On Green Street’ was published in November 2004.

In 2006 I was a finalist in the IITT 'Freelancer of the Year' Award for my work on Stonham's 'SWIMS' Project

I am a Member of the PCG (Professional Contractors Group).
